It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Quinten Farell Nelson, who left this world peacefully on July 28, 2026, surrounded by those he loved most. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Quinten lived a life full of love, service, and devotion, touching the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to know him. Quinten was the beloved son of Edna Nelson and the late George Nelson. He shared a remarkable 40-year marriage with his devoted wife, Dorthy Neil Nelson. Their partnership was a beacon of love and happiness, inspiring all who witnessed it. Quinten's love for Dorthy was evident in the way he always responded to her with a gentle, "Yes, dear," a testament to their deep bond and mutual respect. He was a cherished father figure to Dorthy’s children: Verecia Hall-Coff, Donnisha Hall, Jabbar Oliver, Roshay Calhoun, and Brooklyn Spencer, treating them as his own and offering unwavering support and guidance. As a proud grandfather to 24 grandchildren, including Arkecion Carroll, Bandon Tucker, Antioneshia Smoot, Desiree Robbinson, Brandy Robbinson, Reginald Moore, and Alexandre Coulson, and many more, Quinten's legacy of love and laughter extends to his 30 great-grandchildren. His family was his greatest joy, and his influence will be felt for generations. Quinten's life was marked by service and dedication, both to his country and his faith. He served honorably in the armed forces in Okinawa, demonstrating courage and commitment that remained with him throughout his life. Professionally, he dedicated 15 years to the oil refinery industry, where his hard work and integrity were deeply respected. A man of faith, Quinten dedicated his life to his beliefs and was a respected member of the Jehovah's Witnesses. He found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, from savoring soul food to sharing candy with loved ones. Above all, he cherished every moment spent with his family. Quinten is survived by his loving wife Dorthy, his mother Edna, his siblings Stephanie Nelson, Marie Nelson, Lucia ne Nelson, Ricky Nelson, and Lisa Nelson, and his extensive family who will continue to honor his memory. He was preceded in death by his father, George Nelson. A service to celebrate Quinten's life will be held on August 22, 2026, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, located at 1501 Figueroa St, Wilmington, CA 90744, United States. The family extends a special message: "Quinten Farell Nelson, I love you, and when Jehovah's new system arrives, I will be waiting for you. I love you always, Dot."
