March 3, 1970 — May 24, 2026

It is with profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude that we announce the passing of Quincy Terrell Dent, a beloved son, father, husband, brother, and friend, who departed this life on May 17, 2026. Quincy was born on March 3, 1970, in the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois, where he began a journey that would touch countless lives with warmth, humor, and unwavering loyalty. Quincy was the cherished son of Katherine and William Dent. His mother and several family members, including his grandmother, grandfather, son Darius, aunt Mae, and uncle Buddy, predeceased him. They now welcome him into the fold of eternity. He leaves behind a legacy of love and family, survived by his first wife, Erica Dent, to whom he was married for 20 years, his second wife, Celcia Delgado, with whom he shared five years, and his third wife and lifelong friend, Vickie Gillespie. Their union, though brief in marriage, spanned 42 years of deep friendship and mutual respect. Quincy’s life was enriched by his children: Arnitrace Dent, Deidre, and Aaliyah Dent, who carry forward his spirit of resilience and laughter. He was also a guiding figure to his stepchildren, Cathy Delgado, Hector Delgado, Tyeshia Gillespie, Tanesha Gillespie, Angel Young, Angela Young, and Fredrick Young Jr. His heart brimmed with love for his 12 grandchildren, whose lives he touched with wisdom and joy. A beloved brother to Eric (Talonda), Kendrick L. Dent, and Barnard, and a caring sibling to sisters Nancy and Jalacia Dent, Quincy’s familial bonds were a testament to his nurturing spirit. He was also a cherished uncle to a host of nieces and nephews, each carrying a piece of his legacy in their hearts. Quincy’s journey through education began in the schools of Chicagoland, culminating at Proviso East High School, where he was remembered as a spirited member of the class of '88. Throughout his life, Quincy wore many professional hats with pride and dedication, from his beginnings at Burger King to his roles at Loyola's dietary department, Oprah Studios as a security officer, as a computer analyst, and later at Walmart in Arkansas. His most cherished roles were as a Union Steward and Birthday Club member at Pace, where his colleagues knew him as a steadfast advocate and joyful presence. Beyond his professional endeavors, Quincy’s heart lay in sports. He was an enthusiastic participant in basketball, softball, and track from an early age, finding joy in the camaraderie and challenge of athletic pursuits. His personal qualities were as varied as his interests: a best friend, confidant, and a beacon of laughter and light in the lives of those he loved. In his passing, Quincy leaves behind a private funeral to honor his memory, held in the quiet dignity he so richly deserved. Though there is no memorial fund or donation organization in his name, his family extends a message of gratitude for the shared laughter, the steadfast support, and the beautiful memories that will forever remain. To Quincy, who now walks in peace and freedom, we say thank you for the love and the light you brought into our lives. Your presence remains a guiding force, and your spirit a whisper in the wind, forever cherished and never forgotten. Until we meet again, beyond the veil of this world, we hold you close in the sanctuary of our hearts.
