It is with heavy hearts and profound respect that we share the passing of Prispa I Espinosa, affectionately known as "Flora," who departed this world peacefully on May 30, 2026, with her beloved daughter, Claudia, and a close neighbor at her side. Born on September 1, 1939, in the vibrant town of Velez Santader, Colombia, Flora lived a life full of love, warmth, and unwavering kindness.
Flora was the cherished daughter of the late Pedro Antonio Ramirez and Ana Francisca Fontecha. She was predeceased by her loving parents and her dear sisters, Mariadelia and Mercedes, who now join her in eternal peace.
Her legacy continues through her devoted daughter, Elizabeth, her sister Etelvina, and her brothers Nepomuceno and Luis Manuel. Flora’s spirit also lives on through the many nieces and nephews in Colombia, who she adored, and through the close friends who were fortunate enough to have known her.
For 46 illustrious years, Flora dedicated herself to her work at UNL, where she became a beloved fixture and a symbol of warmth and hospitality. Her signature greeting, "Hello, how are you?" became a comforting and familiar refrain to all who passed through the cafeteria, leaving lasting impressions on countless individuals.
Flora’s devotion extended beyond her professional life into her community. She was an active member of Cristo Rey Church, where her faith and compassion were evident in her every action. Her dedication to her church family was a testament to her generous spirit and unwavering belief in the power of community and faith.
A woman of diverse interests, Flora found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a penchant for collecting elephants and angels, each piece a reminder of the beauty she saw in the world. Her garden was her sanctuary, a place where she lovingly tended to her flowers, creating a haven of vibrant colors and sweet scents.
Prispa I Espinosa "Flora" leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and joy. She touched the hearts of all who knew her with her genuine care and infectious warmth. While we mourn her passing, we celebrate the life she lived, a life filled with compassion, laughter, and endless love.
A Rosary will be held on Monday June 8th at 8:30pm and a funeral service to honor Flora’s life will be held on Tuesday June 9th. 2026 at 10:30am both will be held at Cristo Rey Church where her spirit will be celebrated by family and friends.
Flora’s memory will forever be cherished, and her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing she made the world a brighter place.
