Born on October 5, 1934, in the serene town of Lincolnville, Maine, Joan's life was a testament to resilience, love, and dedication. The beloved daughter of Lester Morse and Annie Rogers, Joan grew up on a humble farm in rural Maine. Her early experiences were filled with the joys and challenges of farm life, where she learned the value of hard work and the importance of family. As a teenager, she demonstrated remarkable resilience, pulling the plow horse in the fields herself. It was this strength that would later lead a doctor to remark on her extraordinarily strong bones, a reflection of her indomitable spirit. In 1952, alongside her sister Helen, Joan joined the Women's Air Force, marking the beginning of a life dedicated to service and care. Two years later, on April 21, 1954, she married Leo Peter Ferrante, Jr., and together they built a loving home in Lawrence, Massachusetts, raising a family and creating memories until Leo's passing in 1974. Joan dedicated her early years to being a nurturing homemaker, raising seven children with grace and love. Later, she embarked on a new chapter as an Avon Representative, where her dedication and charisma earned her several National Awards over a decade-long career. Her work brought her joy and allowed her to connect with others, sharing her warmth and kindness. Family was at the heart of Joan's life. She was the proud mother of Cindy, Michael, Trisha, and Jim, and a cherished grandmother to eight grandchildren: Leo, Dean, Joey, Susan, Justin, Halie, Elijah, and Michael. Her legacy extends further with the blessing of twelve great-grandchildren: Marissa, Paige, Taylor, Eggie, Josie, Kasia, Dean Jr., Christian, Rosie, Daisy, Riley, and Kayleigh. Each one held a special place in her heart, and she took immense pride in their lives and accomplishments. Joan was predeceased by her loving parents, sisters Helen, Flora, and Florence, her beloved husband Leo, and her cherished children Peter Ferrante III, Anthony Steven Ferrante, and Lisa Marie Ferrante, as well as Edward Kephart. Her memory will be carried forward by those who survive her, her family who will forever cherish the warmth, wisdom, and love she imparted. A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.
