It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Preston Coye Cox, a cherished soul, who departed this life peacefully on May 12, 2026, at the age of 98. Born on January 15, 1928, in the serene surroundings of Comanche County, Texas, Preston was the beloved son of the late Andrew "Jeff" Cox and Connie Elizabeth (McCullough) Cox. Preston's life was a testament to love, resilience, and dedication. He was a loving brother to the late Frances Swann and Juanita Owen, and a devoted husband to the love of his life, Dorothy Cox, whom he married on February 27, 1954, in Comanche. Their union was a radiant example of commitment and affection, one that deeply inspired those around them until Dorothy's passing. A man of integrity and compassion, Preston built a life rich in family and community. He was a proud father to his daughter, Rhonda, and her husband, Carroll, who reside in Comanche. His legacy of love further flourished through his granddaughters, Kassie Day and Allison Abbey, both of whom brought immense joy to his life. Kassie, along with her husband Jacob, blessed Preston with four great-grandchildren—Lakyn, Meryn, Niles, and Ozlyn—each a testament to the enduring branches of the family tree he so lovingly nurtured. Preston's presence was a staple in the lives of his extended family and friends. He was the beloved uncle of Marcus (Debrah), Connie (Gary) Butler, and Bobby (Marissa) Owen, and held a special place in the hearts of Beverly (Dan) Dickey and many others who were fortunate enough to call him a friend. Throughout his life, Preston was known for his unwavering kindness, strong work ethic, and the gentle wisdom he imparted to all who knew him. His warm smile and generous spirit were constants in the lives he touched, leaving an indelible mark on the community. A service to celebrate Preston's life will be held on May 16, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the First Methodist Church in Comanche, located at 217 W Grand, Comanche, Texas. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Preston are invited to join in this heartfelt tribute to a remarkable man whose legacy will continue to inspire future generations. Though Preston has left this earthly realm, his spirit remains alive in the memories and stories we share. May his soul rest in eternal peace, reunited with his beloved Dorothy and all the angels who awaited his arrival.
