Plimpton Nesbary, a remarkable and cherished individual, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on January 14, 1953, in the charming town of Muskegon, Michigan, Plimpton was a beacon of resilience and strength throughout his long life, which he lived with great dignity and grace.
Plimpton was the beloved son of Admiral Dural Nesbary Sr. and Sadie Mae (Woolwine) Nesbary. He was predeceased by his loving parents, his dear brother, Admiral Dural Nesbary Jr. (Survived by his wife, Anna), and his sister, Ruenette Carolyn Nesbary. He leaves behind his devoted siblings, Barbary Nesbary, Lurman Nesbary (Victorine), Dale (Connie) Kalvin Nesbary, and Salome Nesbary, and many loving nieces and nephews who will forever cherish his memory and the profound impact he had on their lives.
A proud graduate of Reeth-Puffer High School in Muskegon, class of 1973, Plimpton furthered his education by completing specialized studies in food service in 1976 at the Opportunities Industrialization Center of Muskegon County. His passion for culinary arts was not just a career path but a beloved hobby, as he found immense joy in cooking and sharing meals with those he loved.
Plimpton dedicated ten years of his professional life to the Selective Service System at the Great Lakes Naval Base in Great Lakes, Illinois. Despite the challenges of a lifelong illness that led to his retirement in 2001, he remained steadfast in his commitment to his work and colleagues, earning their deep respect and admiration.
A man of varied interests, he spent many hours a day listening to Kenyan Christian music. Plimpton also enjoyed the vibrant world of cinema, particularly Nollywood films and Marvel movies featuring the Avengers. These cinematic adventures provided him with countless hours of joy and entertainment.
Above all, Plimpton will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty to his family and his steadfast belief in God. He stood as a pillar of support, always ready to defend and stand by his loved ones, offering them strength and comfort.
A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor his life. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to pay tribute to Plimpton are invited to make donations to a charity of their choice, in keeping with his generous spirit and desire to make a positive difference in the world.
As we reflect on the life of Plimpton Nesbary, we remember him not only for the years he graced this world but for the love, warmth, and inspiration he imparted to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
