Phyllis Thorne, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully passed away on April 3, 2026, at the age of 78, at her home in Mississauga, Ontario, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on February 4, 1948, in Mississauga, Phyllis lived a life rooted in love, service, and kindness. Phyllis was the cherished daughter of the late Ralph and Maggie Thorne. She shared a profound bond with her brother John Thorne and his wife Stephanie, and her sister Susan Thorne. A devoted wife for 50 years, Phyllis was the beloved partner of John Ivy, with whom she built a life full of love and warmth. Together, they raised their beautiful daughter Jenny, who, along with her husband Johnny, gave Phyllis the joy of two grandchildren, Eli and Mandy, who were the light of her life. Phyllis was a woman of many talents and passions. She proudly completed a GED course, achieving a high school equivalency with ease, a testament to her determination and commitment. Her career as a gardener for a flower arrangement business was more than just a job; it was a reflection of her love for nature and her remarkable green thumb, which made every flower bloom under her care. A compassionate soul, Phyllis dedicated much of her time to volunteering at local food banks. Her patience and kindness were a source of comfort to those in need, and she was known for her unwavering generosity, always ready to give the shirt off her back to help others. Phyllis had a zest for life that was contagious. She was an entertainer at heart, known for her culinary skills and the joy she brought to family BBQs. Her love for long walks on the sandy beaches was a reflection of her appreciation for the simple, beautiful moments in life. Her family will forever cherish her memory, remembering her as a kind, generous woman who brought joy and laughter to every gathering. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she touched. In accordance with her family’s wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Phyllis’s life. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has shown support and paid their respects during this difficult time. Your kindness is deeply appreciated. Phyllis Thorne's legacy of love, compassion, and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
