Phyllis Ruth Morehouse

Phyllis Ruth Morehouse, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in Fort Collins, Colorado, after a long battle with dementia. Born on October 8, 1934, in Redwing, Minnesota, Phyllis was a beacon of warmth and joy to all who knew her. She was 91 years old. Phyllis was the cherished daughter of Mierl and Ruth Hattemer and grew up alongside her siblings, Janice Peterson, Marlys Lortscher, Joanne Kendall, and Elliott Hattemer. In 1956, she married the love of her life, Ed Morehouse, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lake City, Minnesota. Together, they built a family filled with love and laughter. Phyllis is survived by her loving children: daughter Allison Walsh, son Brian Morehouse and his partner Jacque Strevey, and daughter Stephanie Myers. Her legacy continues through her seven grandchildren—Cassandra O'Brien and her husband Mason, Curtis Morehouse and his wife Kaicey, Zachary Paquette, Kody Brunnemer and his wife Lindsay, Raven Walsh and her wife Bella, Tommy Organ, and Logan Myers—and her ten great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. A devoted homemaker, Phyllis dedicated her life to nurturing her family and creating a loving home. Her culinary skills were unmatched, and she found great joy in gathering loved ones around her table. Phyllis had a zest for life and was known for her kind and loving spirit. With a house always full of family and friends, she was truly "a hoot," bringing laughter and light to all occasions. Phyllis was an enthusiastic tennis player and enjoyed the camaraderie of playing cards, especially the game of golf and dominoes. Her passion for sports extended to being a devoted fan of the Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos. She relished every moment spent cheering for her teams and sharing that joy with her family. A celebration of Phyllis's life will be held on June 10, 2027, at 11:00 a.m. at Hok Si La Park, located at 2500 N. US Hwy 61, Lake City, Minnesota. It is a fitting tribute to a life lived with love and laughter. The Morehouse family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff of Pathways Hospice in Fort Collins, Colorado.
