It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of our beloved Phyllis McNaughton, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Phyllis peacefully left this world on June 16, 2026, at the age of 101, surrounded by the love of her family and the compassionate care of skilled professionals, following a courageous battle with renal failure.
Phyllis was born on February 10, 1925, in the vibrant city of Kingston, Jamaica. Her journey through life was marked by her unwavering commitment to family, her joyous spirit, and her ability to infuse humor into every interaction. Known for her quick wit and clever sarcasm, she had an innate ability to captivate her grandchildren, making them laugh while imparting wisdom in her own unique way. Her words were often laced with lessons, leaving an indelible mark on those she loved.
A dedicated and hardworking individual, Phyllis spent over a decade working at the esteemed Tiffany's, where she was respected and admired for her professionalism and attention to detail. Beyond her career, she was a devoted member of the St. Marks Episcopal Church in Brooklyn, NY, where she found solace and community.
Phyllis had an adventurous spirit and a love for travel, which she pursued with enthusiasm. She cherished the moments spent talking to family and friends across the diaspora, bridging distances with her warmth and kindness. Her love for her family was boundless, and she took immense pride in her four children, Winston Pagon, Laymond Pagon, Angela Adamson, and Marva Cole. Her legacy continues through her 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her love, humor, and resilience.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Interfaith Medical Center and Crown Heights Center, whose care and compassion in the last weeks of Phyllis's life provided comfort and peace. Special thanks are also extended to her dedicated home caregivers and her grandson, Deanie, who was a source of unwavering support.
A celebration of Phyllis McNaughton's life will be held on June 28, 2026, at 18:00 at Caribe Funeral Home, located on Utica Ave, Brooklyn, NY. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring her remarkable life and paying tribute to the profound impact she had on all who knew her.
