Phyllis Lorains Blocker fell asleep in death peacefully on Sunday, May 10. Phyllis was born in Akron OH on March 29, 1957, and graduated from “The Big Blue” South High School. She was employed in various occupations; but acounting was her passion. She was a numbers girl!
Pyllis was preceded in death by her Mother Roxie Blocker, her younger Sister Patricia and oldest Brother Thomas. She leaves to cherish her memory Brothers Don (Florence) of Virginia Beach VA, Ossie of Akron OH, Willie of Lithonia GA and Varna of Akron OH. Sisters, Sheila Blocker-Berry and Deborah of Lawrenceville GA and Gwen (Henry) Lewis) of Akron OH. Aunt, Louise Orr of Cleveland OH; special Friends Gisele Ponder of Akron OH and Michelle (Rice) Conyer of Grayson GA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and many many friends.
Her family fondly remembers her knowledge of healthcare, herbs and vitamins, says Gwen, and her humble spirit. Sheila says she loved her some Chaka Kahn; but most importantly she loved our God Jehovah. Antwan says she loved music and knew every old song. Debbie says she aided me back into the truth.
Varna said besides being stubborn she was a great Sista! Willie James says her singing was suspect--just like her driving. She was very witty and used to be skinny like me!
Helen calls her “my favorite” cousin. Henry Sr says she was quiet as a mouse while Lil Henry remembers she got me out of punishment from Aunt Pat! Cedric, on the other hand, said he admired her free spirit and how she roasted people!
I miss her laughter, our long conversations about so many things, says Michelle, that always came back around to what Jehovah has in store for us. We met in 1982 at the Kingdom Hall, says Geneasse. Phyllis was kind and generous, thinking about others. Cathy remarks, her loving spirit illuminated my life and the lives of those around her through her thoughtfulness, generosity and laughter.
I loved being with Phyllis says Dora Lee, she was very Service minded--she loved Jehovah. I admired her zeal for the ministry, Ellen wrote, and enjoyed our talks about Bible prophecy. I will miss my FS buddy.
Jae remarked. we always seemed to have a variety of enjoyable topics to discuss while in the public ministry. Maggie writes, she was very encouraging to me; Phyllis my friend will be truly missed. Her kindness and mild spirit and unwavering loyalty were a comforting presence says Veronica.
Her willingness to help was remarkable and there was never any doubt about the depth of her love for Jehovah, says Joy. We have been friends for 65 years, Gisele states, Phyllis had a memory like an elephant and knew the Bible like the back of her hand. I am going to truly miss her.
