Phillis was born on October 8, 1950, in the charming city of Eugene, Oregon, a place she cherished and carried within her heart throughout her life. Phillis was the beloved daughter of Philip and Mildred Hileman, who instilled in her the values of kindness and resilience. Her journey of life began in Eugene, where she spent her formative years surrounded by the natural beauty of Oregon's mountains and rivers. Her love of horses and the Pacific Northwest was matched by her appreciation for the outdoors and her creative spirit, which she expressed through gardening and artistic pursuits. Phillis graduated from North Eugene High School in 1968, where she formed lifelong friendships and began shaping her distinctive outlook on life. She later earned her Associate Degree in Accounting in 2003, a proud achievement that led to her work in bookkeeping. Known for her quick wit and infectious humor, Phillis had an extraordinary gift for finding light even in the darkest moments. Her laughter was a symphony of joy that resonated with all who were fortunate enough to know her. Phillis's ability to see the humor in life's challenges was not only her strength but also a beacon of hope for those around her. Her outlook made life's burdens lighter and its joys all the more profound. She possessed a true warrior spirit and was fiercely protective of those in need, even earning city commendations for her role in helping apprehend a purse snatcher. Family was the cornerstone of Phillis’s life. She was a devoted mother to her children, Amy (Lee) Lawson and Joshua (Cheryl) McClary, who were the pride and joy of her existence. Their memories of her loving guidance and ever-present support will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration. Phillis was also blessed with three grandchildren, whose lives she enriched with her wisdom and boundless love. Phillis is survived by her children, grandchildren, and siblings Terry (Sally) Hileman and Vicki Formosa. She was preceded in death by siblings Lesda Lee Gardner (Jo), and Philip C Hileman. Phillis's life was a tapestry woven with laughter, love, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys. Her legacy is one of strength in adversity and joy in the everyday. She taught us all that humor can be a powerful tool for healing and that a heart full of love can conquer any challenge. As we celebrate the life of Phillis Hileman, we remember her not with sorrow, but with gratitude for the time we shared.
