Phillip Sherman, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on April 25, 1933, in Lansing, Michigan, Phillip was the cherished son of Leslie James and Leona Phoebe Sherman. Phillip's life was marked by love, dedication, and service. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War, demonstrating a commitment to duty and honor that would define his character throughout his life. In 1957, Phillip married the love of his life, Dolores Barbara Washko, with whom he shared a beautiful journey until her passing. Together, they built a loving family, which includes their children: son Stephen J. Sherman, daughter Kathleen Ann Nell, and daughter-in-law Roberta K. Sherman. Phillip was also a devoted grandfather to four grandchildren: Cavin, Phoebe, Sophia, and Garrison Sherman. Phillip's career was dedicated to the heating and air conditioning industry, where he spent 25 years with Bryant Corporation as an Accounts Receivables Specialist and Assistant Branch Manager. In 1992, he embarked on a new adventure by founding Florida Laser Supply in Fort Myers, Florida, which he successfully operated until his retirement in 2010. Education was important to Phillip; he graduated from South Bend Adams High School and earned an Associate's degree from Ivy Tech in Indianapolis, Indiana. Beyond his professional achievements, Phillip was an active member of the Catholic Church, where his gentle nature and kindness touched many lives. He found joy in life's simple pleasures, spending time on the beaches of Longboat Key, Florida, engrossed in a good book, and cheering for his favorite football teams, Notre Dame and the Chicago Bears. Phillip's love for military movies was a testament to his enduring respect for those who serve. A funeral service to honor Phillip's remarkable life will be held on October 19, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Phoenix Mountain Post Acute, located at 13232 N Tatum Blvd., Phoenix, AZ 85032.
