Phillip David Goodwin, a beloved son, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 37 on August 31, 2026, at Caromont Regional Medical Center. Born on April 6, 1989, in Pennsylvania, Phillip was a spirited and cherished member of his community.
Phillip was the cherished son of Patricia Riley Goodwin and the late John Goodwin. He was predeceased by his loving father, grandparents John and Carol Goodwin, his uncle James Goodwin, grandfather Patrick Phillip Riley, and grandfather Richard A. Speer. Phillip leaves behind a loving family, including his daughter Alaina Michelle Goodwin, his devoted mother Patricia, siblings John Arthur Goodwin V and wife Rachel, Emily Faye Goodwin Lambeth and husband Dakota, and Mercedes Goodwin. He will be missed by his grandmother Merna Faye Riley, and his niece Baylee Lambeth and nephew Easton Lambeth, along with numerous extended family members who will forever hold him in their hearts.
A proud alumnus of South Point High School, Phillip graduated with the class of 2007. During his high school years, he distinguished himself as a 2-time state wrestling champion and an All-American, a testament to his dedication and love for the sport. His passion for wrestling extended beyond his own achievements, as he held a deep admiration for collegiate wrestling and the wrestling community at large.
Known for his vibrant personality, Phillip was the life of the party and affectionately known as the family leprechaun. With a heart full of laughter and a knack for bringing joy to those around him, he was a jokester at heart, spreading smiles and laughter wherever he went.
A celebration of Phillip's life will be held on September 4, 2026, at 4:00 PM at New Life Baptist in Stanley. Family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched are invited to gather in remembrance and honor of this remarkable man.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting Phillip's own generous spirit and love for giving back to the community.
Phillip David Goodwin's legacy of love, laughter, and strength will forever be etched in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
