Philip Vrana, a beloved patriarch whose life was a tapestry of love, service, and dedication, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on January 10, 1938, in the quaint town of Ladysmith, Wisconsin, Philip was the cherished son of Stanley and Amelia Vrana. From a young age, Philip exhibited an unwavering commitment to his country, serving and retiring honorably from the United States Air Force. His military career began as a radar operator for seven years, after which he transitioned to computer maintenance, a field he excelled in until the end of his service. Philip continued to showcase his technical acumen by joining Digital Equipment, where he retired after a successful career in repairs. Philip's devotion extended beyond his profession to his faith and community. A steadfast member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church since its inception, he found profound solace and strength in daily communion, describing each experience as spiritually invigorating. For forty-five years, he remained a constant presence, his faith unwavering. Known for his love of family, Philip found immense joy in cooking, often planning Sunday dinners well in advance, ensuring every family gathering was filled with warmth and laughter. His passion for being surrounded by loved ones extended to his hobbies of yard work and swimming, activities that allowed him to spend cherished moments with his family. Philip was a man of remarkable character—his humor and understanding nature touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Non-judgmental and accepting, he embraced everyone with open arms, never imposing but always offering unconditional love and support. His signature tropical shirts were a testament to his vibrant personality and zest for life. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Anne Vrana, and his parents, Stanley and Amelia Vrana. He is survived by his children,calvin Vrana Laura Simmons and her husband Boyd Simmons, and Becca Hipol and her husband Phil Hipol, who will carry forward his legacy of love and kindness. Philip's legacy also lives on through his eleven grandchildren, and a multitude of great and great-great-grandchildren, each a testament to the enduring impact of his life. A funeral service will be held in his honor at 1:00 PM on September 26, 2026, at West Over Cemetery, located at 2601 Allen St, Augusta, GA 30904.
