Peter was a cherished son to Marilyn and Peter Metzger, inheriting their values and carrying them forward into every endeavor he undertook. A proud alumnus of Westhampton Beach High School, class of 1992, Peter was known for his dedication and strong sense of responsibility, traits that served him well throughout his career. Choosing the open road as his office, Peter embarked on a fulfilling career as a truck driver and motorcoach operator. His passion for travel and commitment to his profession earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. Known for his reliability, Peter's journeys were marked not just by the miles he traveled, but by the warmth of his smile and his steadfast dedication. At the heart of Peter’s life was his beloved family. As a devoted husband to Marcia Metzger and a loving father to his daughter, Cheyanne, Peter found his greatest joy in the moments spent with them. His family was his world, and throughout the challenges he faced, particularly during the difficult times of the past two years, he never wavered in his love and commitment to them. His mother, Marilyn, remained a pillar of strength, offering unwavering support and comfort. A man of resilience, Peter faced his health struggles with courage and a determination that inspired all who knew him. His ability to find happiness and humor, even in adversity, was a hallmark of his character. His sarcastic and humorous sense of humor brought laughter and light to those around him, endearing him to many. Outside of work and family, Peter found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid baseball enthusiast, a lover of travel, and enjoyed visiting wildlife parks, restaurants, and nature reserves. These hobbies reflected his zest for life and his appreciation for the world around him. Peter's legacy is one of love, perseverance, and a life lived with purpose. Though he did not serve in the military, his dedication to his family and community was evident in his actions and the support he offered to others. Peter is survived by his loving wife, Marcia, his cherished daughter, Cheyanne, and his devoted mother, Marilyn. His presence will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will continue to inspire and guide those he leaves behind. In memory of Peter’s generous spirit, his family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), a cause dear to his heart, or to a charity of one's choice, in lieu of flowers.
