In Loving Memory

Peter C. Baca
January 18, 1948 — April 22, 2026
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Peter Carlos Baca, who departed this life peacefully on April 22, 2026, in the warmth of his beloved Colorado Springs, Colorado. Born on January 18, 1948, in the close-knit community of Weston, Colorado, Peter lived a life marked by devotion to family, service to his country, and an unwavering commitment to his community.
Peter, affectionately known as "Pete" to his friends and family, was the cherished son of the late Pedro I. and Flora Baca. Preceded in death by his parents, his beloved son Daniel, and his siblings Nestor, Celeste, Elvera, Rosalie, Nancy, Emily, and Porfirio, Peter now joins them in eternal rest.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Andrea, with whom he shared a beautiful journey since their marriage in March 1978. He is also survived by his son Dennis, and two adoring grandchildren, Christopher and Tiana, who were his pride and joy. Peter's love extended to his sisters Mary, Betsy, Debbie, and Bernadine, and his brother Chris. He was a beloved godfather to Jennifer and Justin and held a special place in the hearts of his many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Educated at William J. Palmer High School, Trinidad Junior College, and CSU Pueblo, Peter pursued his passion for understanding human behavior, earning degrees in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. His dedication to public service was evident in his career as a Deputy Sheriff in Las Animas County, Colorado, and later with the City of Colorado Springs, from which he retired with respect and admiration from his colleagues.
Proudly serving his country, Peter was a United States Marine, a veteran of the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1970. Though he seldom spoke of his experiences, the impact of his service was profound, shaping his character and humility.
A man of faith, Peter was a dedicated member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where he found solace in his beliefs and community. His love for sports was evident in his enthusiastic support for Colorado's teams—the Broncos, Nuggets, Avalanche, and Rockies. An avid hunter, bowler, and coach for his son's softball teams, Peter shared his passions with those around him, leaving a mark on all who knew him.
Peter's warmth, kindness, and steadfast presence were the hallmarks of his character. Known for his calm demeanor, he was a great brother and friend, always there when needed, with a gentle strength that never wavered. Though his time in Vietnam affected his physical health, his spirit remained unbroken, and his pride in having served was clear to all.
A celebration of Peter's life will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1830 South Carona Ave, Colorado Springs, Colorado, 80905, on May 27, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends are invited to honor a remarkable man whose memory will forever enrich the lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a veterans' charity of choice in Peter's memory, reflecting his dedication to his fellow servicemen and women.
Peter C. Baca will be dearly missed, but his legacy of love, strength, and service will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace, forever embraced by the love of his family and the grace of God.
