With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Petar Polic, who peacefully departed this world on June 28, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on January 2, 1941, in Split, Croatia, Petar's journey was marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering spirit that left an indelible mark on all those who had the privilege of knowing him. Petar was the cherished son of the late Dr. Marko Polic and Milena Polic, who instilled in him values of kindness and compassion. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Francis Polic, with whom he shared a remarkable 50-year marriage filled with joy and companionship. They wed on September 27, 1974, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and together they built a family founded on love and laughter, raising two wonderful children. A scholar at heart, Petar graduated from the University of Split with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. His career as a computer programmer and analyst spanned decades, culminating in his retirement from AVX, where he was admired for his intellect and dedication to his work. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Petar was an avid tennis player, never missing a chance to step onto the court. He delighted in watching soccer and enjoyed countless hours playing card games with friends, relishing the camaraderie and joy these moments brought. Petar's legacy is one of warmth and kindness. Known for his welcoming smile and generous spirit, he had a unique gift for making everyone feel valued and appreciated. His kindness and generosity touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact that will be cherished by all who knew him. Petar is survived by his loving sister, Helly Polich; his devoted children, Kristi Williams and her husband Michael, along with their children Zachary and Danica; and Mark Polic and his wife Erin, along with their son Seth. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Jessie Henderson, who shared many cherished moments with him. A service to celebrate Petar's life will be held on July 12, 2026, at 1:00 PM at McMillan-Small Funeral Home, located at 910 67th Ave. N. Myrtle Beach, SC 29572. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Petar are invited to join in honoring his memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Petar's honor to the American Institute for Cancer Research, an organization he held dear. Though Petar has left this earthly realm, his spirit will forever reside in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him.
