January 19, 1952 — April 17, 2026

With heavy hearts but a deep sense of gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Perry Hines, who departed this world on April 17, 2026, following a courageous battle with illness. Born on January 19, 1952, in the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois, Perry was a beacon of wisdom, love, and resilience. Perry was the beloved son of Virginia and Berry Hines, and he cherished his upbringing in a family rooted in strength and warmth. Though he has now reunited with his parents in eternal rest, along with his dear sister Patricia Brewer, nephew Eric Brewer, and numerous aunts and uncles, his legacy continues to illuminate the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him. A man of intellect and diverse talents, Perry contributed his skills to various professions, demonstrating an exceptional aptitude for learning and understanding. His career path was as varied as the many lives he touched, each role marked by dedication and a keen intelligence that earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike. Perry leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories, lovingly tended by his four sons: Perry Hines Jr., Yatku Hines, Ahmed Poole, and Michael Hines. His family, including his brothers Harry Hines (and wife Carolyn) and Lester Hines, and his sister Sharna Hines, will forever cherish his guidance and the love he generously shared. As a patriarch, Perry was blessed with the joy of witnessing the growth of his extensive family, including sixteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Each of them carries forward pieces of his spirit, his love for learning, and his deep commitment to family values. A memorial service to celebrate Perry's life will be held on May 9, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Woodlawn Baptist Church, located at 6207 S University Ave, Chicago, IL 60637. Family and friends are invited to gather in honor of a remarkable man whose life enriched so many. The Hines family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have shown kindness, offered prayers, and shared in their sorrow during this difficult time. Your support is a testament to the love and respect Perry garnered throughout his life. May Perry Hines rest in peace, his spirit forever embraced by the city he loved and the family who loves him still.
