September 24, 1960 — February 27, 2026

It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Percy Lane Anderson, a beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend. Percy left this world on February 27, 2026, at the age of 65, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and service. Percy was born on September 24, 1960, in the close-knit community of Smithdale, Mississippi. He was the cherished son of the late Squire and Eddye Lee (Herring) Anderson, who instilled in him the values of hard work, integrity, and kindness that he carried throughout his life. Percy was predeceased by his parents, his sister Lorraine Anderson, and his brother Kenneth "Mane" Anderson. From a young age, Percy exhibited a remarkable sense of duty and compassion, qualities that led him to join the United States Army shortly after finishing high school. He served with distinction in the 296 Army Reserves out of Brookhaven, Mississippi, dedicating twenty years of his life to the protection and service of his country. His military service was a source of immense pride for Percy, and he retired with honors, having made lifelong friends and countless memories during his time in the Army. In addition to his military career, Percy found fulfillment and camaraderie working at the East McComb Body Shop. His colleagues remember him not only for his exceptional work ethic but also for his infectious laughter and the genuine care he had for everyone around him. Percy's life was rich with simple pleasures and enduring passions. He was an avid outdoorsman, finding serenity in the rhythmic casting of a fishing line and the quiet patience of hunting. His love for baseball and softball games was infectious, and he never missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams, often in the company of his son, Haven, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond. Percy found joy in traveling, discovering new places and experiences, but his heart was always at home in Smithdale, surrounded by the family he cherished. Percy's greatest joy and proudest achievement was undeniably his son, Haven Anderson, of Smithdale, Mississippi. Raising Haven and spending quality time with him was the cornerstone of Percy's life, and the love they shared was a testament to his dedication and warmth as a father. Percy is survived by his loving son, Haven; two devoted sisters, Illean Lewis of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, and JoAnn (Clifton) Marsalis Sr. of McComb, Mississippi; and his two brothers, Wallace (Carol) Anderson and Willie Anderson, both of Smithdale, Mississippi. Percy also leaves behind one niece, two nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts. Percy's passing leaves a void that will be felt deeply by all who knew him. His legacy of love, service, and joy will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. As we mourn his departure, we also celebrate a life filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering devotion to family and friends. A memorial service to honor Percy's life will be held at a later date, where all those who were touched by his kindness and spirit can gather to pay tribute to a truly remarkable man. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of one's choice, in memory of Percy Lane Anderson, as a way to continue his legacy of helping others. Rest in peace, dear Percy. Your journey on this earth may have ended, but your spirit will forever soar in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know and love you.
