With profound sadness and deep respect, we announce the passing of Percilene Virginia Murphy, a cherished sister, devoted teacher, and beloved community member, who left this world peacefully on May 30, 2026. Born on July 31, 1944, in Kansas City, Missouri, Percilene's life was a beautiful testament to the power of love, service, and education. Percilene was the cherished daughter of the late Percy Lee and Gonzell Murphy. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Judith Ann Murphy, and her brothers Dwight and Robert Murphy. Her memory will forever be treasured by her surviving siblings: Wanda Johnson of Houston, Texas; Patricia Murphy of Mission, Kansas; Rita Womack (Melvin) of Kansas City, Missouri; Michael Murphy (Loretta) of Las Vegas, Nevada; Stephen Murphy of Kansas City, Missouri; Mark Stanley Murphy of Kansas City, Missouri; Paul Murphy (Carol) of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Kevin Murphy of Dallas, Texas. Her family was the core of her being, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Percilene's educational journey began at Bishop Miege High School, where she graduated in 1962. She pursued higher education with dedication, obtaining a Bachelor's Degree from Donnelly College in 1964, followed by a Master's Degree in Special Education from the University of Missouri Kansas City in 1981. Her commitment to learning and teaching led her to a fulfilling career as a Special Education teacher with Kansas City Missouri Public Schools, where she devoted over 30 years of her life. Percilene's passion for teaching was evident in her unparalleled dedication to her students, especially those who needed the most care and attention. Her classroom was a haven of understanding and encouragement, where every child was valued and inspired. A devout member of St. Louis Church for over 40 years, Percilene's faith was a guiding light in her life. She was also a dedicated member of the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary for over 20 years, reflecting her steadfast commitment to service and community. Her involvement in these organizations allowed her to extend her nurturing spirit beyond the classroom and into the broader community, touching countless lives with her kindness and generosity. Percilene was an avid reader with a love for comedy and a zest for travel. She found joy in the pages of books, the laughter shared with friends, and the adventures that took her far and wide. Her heart was full of love for God and others, and she lived her life with honesty and truth, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. A service to honor and celebrate Percilene's life will be held on June 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Monica Catholic Church, located at 1616 Paseo Boulevard, Kansas City, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary, ensuring that Percilene's legacy of service and dedication to those in need continues to thrive. Percilene Virginia Murphy's life was a beacon of love, compassion, and dedication. As we bid farewell to a remarkable woman, let us carry forward her legacy of kindness and commitment to making the world a better place. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
