In Loving Memory

Penelope Penny Owens
July 1, 1963 — October 3, 2026
In loving memory of Penelope Penny Owens, affectionately known as Penny, who departed from this world on October 3, 2026. Born on July 1, 1963, in Pulaski, Tennessee, Penny was the beloved daughter of Eddie Owens and Bertha Geneva Owens. Her life's journey, filled with love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to her family and community, touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Penny's life was a testament to kindness, resilience, and the joy of family. She was the cherished mother of her daughter, Shakeema Martin, who carries forward her legacy with grace and strength. Penny found immense joy in the presence of her grandchildren, Xzorion Randolph and Nia Martin, who were the light of her life. Her passions extended beyond family, including her love for shopping and her dedication to spending quality time with those she held dear.
Penny grew up in Pulaski, attending Giles County High School until the 12th grade. Her career path led her to Vanderbilt, where she devoted 12 years working in Dietary Services. After retirement, Penny embraced the freedom of her new chapter by becoming a Doordash delivery driver, a role she undertook with enthusiasm and a smile.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. As a devoted member of the Greater Faith Worship Center, Penny found joy and solace in singing with the choir, sharing her voice and spirit with her church community.
Penny's warmth and generosity were felt by her surviving family members, including her siblings Charles Owens and Janice Owens, her aunts, Linder Young, and her uncles, James Rivers (Pam) and Wilson Rivers (Vester). She leaves behind a legacy of love with her nieces, Keenya Yarbrough and Genene Owens, and her nephews, Shun Owens and Hakeem Dartis (Haley), along with a host of great-nephews and nieces who will forever cherish her memory.
A service honoring Penny’s life will be held on October 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Greater Faith Worship Center, located at 1358 Riley Hill Rd. Family, friends, and all who were touched by her generous spirit are invited to gather, celebrate her life, and share in the love that she so freely gave.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Penny's name to the Greater Faith Worship Center, reflecting her enduring commitment to her faith community.
Penny Owens's life was a beautiful symphony of love, faith, and devotion. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she touched.
