It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Peggy Solsbery Greer, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, who departed this life on April 30, 2026, at the age of 83. Peggy passed away peacefully at her home in the company of her devoted family, just as she had always wished.
Born on August 22, 1942, in Brady, Texas, Peggy was the treasured daughter of E.D. & Lottie Solsbery. Her early years were spent in the warm embrace of a loving family, alongside her siblings Jeannette, Fowler, and Kay. Peggy’s journey through life was marked by her unwavering dedication to family, her community, and her faith.
A proud graduate of Lohn High School in 1960, Peggy moved to Imperial at the start of 1961, where she laid the foundation for a life filled with love and service. In San Angelo, Texas, on May 17, 1986, Peggy married her prince charming, Leldon (Sandy) Greer. Together, they shared a beautiful journey until Sandy's passing in July 2019. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, a beacon that guided their family through the years.
Peggy’s heart was as expansive as her family, which included her brother Fowler Solsbery of San Angelo, her sister Kay and brother-in-law Tony Gage of Stephenville, TX, her son Junior and daughter-in-law Llana Tackett of Grape Creek, TX, her daughters Edverna and son-in-law Dan Allen of Gardendale, TX, and Donna Tackett of Tuscola. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Russell and Jennifer Greer of Helena, AL, and DeAna and Fred Mediano of San Angelo, TX. Her legacy lives on through her 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored and cherished as her greatest pride and joy.
Peggy's life was one of service and dedication beyond her family. She was an active member of numerous organizations, including the Ladies Fire Auxiliary, Pecos County Hospital Board, and the Board of Directors for Ward County Credit Union. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was a faithful member of the Grandfalls Church of Christ.
Above all, Peggy was known for her generosity, thoughtfulness, and the love she shared with everyone she met. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth and kindness, where she made everyone feel special and valued. Her greatest joy was being a Mam-ma and a Gammy, roles she embraced with an open heart and endless affection.
Preceded in death by her husband Leldon, her parents, her sister Jeannette Jones, and her sister-in-law Linda Solsbery, Peggy now joins them, leaving behind a legacy of love that will forever be cherished by those who knew her.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Gentiva Hospice of San Angelo for their compassionate care during Peggy’s final days. Their support was a blessing to Peggy and her family, providing comfort and dignity through this difficult time.
