It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Peggy Myers Rooks, a beloved mother, sister, friend, and community beacon. Peggy peacefully departed this world on May 5, 2026, at the age of 79, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and compassion that will forever be cherished.
Born on August 24, 1946, in the charming town of Hagerstown, Maryland, Peggy was the beloved daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Myers. From an early age, Peggy demonstrated a zest for life and a boundless energy that would define her journey. She was a proud graduate of Greencastle Antrim High School in 1964 and later pursued higher education at Catonsville Community College, earning an associate's degree in 1988. Her commitment to education and lifelong learning served as an inspiration to her family and peers.
Peggy dedicated 34 years of her life to a fulfilling career at Sherwin Williams, where she was not only a diligent and respected employee but also a cherished friend to many. Her warmth, dedication, and unwavering work ethic left an indelible mark on her colleagues and the company. Upon retiring, Peggy embraced a new chapter in The Villages, Florida, where she continued to spread joy and kindness to everyone she met.
Her vibrant spirit was most evident in her love for dancing, a passion she shared with her friends and family at every opportunity. Peggy's grace on the dance floor was matched only by her grace in life, as she was a devoted companion and confidante to those she held dear. Her home was often filled with laughter and music, serving as a gathering place for loved ones to create cherished memories.
Peggy's generous heart knew no bounds. She was a giving and caring person, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Her selfless nature touched countless lives, and her presence was a source of comfort and strength to anyone fortunate enough to know her. Peggy's compassion extended beyond her immediate circle; she was a fervent supporter of the SPCA, championing the welfare of animals and advocating for their care and protection.
As we celebrate Peggy's life, we remember her as a beacon of love and light who enriched the lives of all who crossed her path. Her legacy of kindness and generosity will continue to inspire us and remind us of the power of a loving heart.
Peggy is survived by her cherished family, who will carry her memory forward with love and devotion. A private memorial service will be held to honor her life and the remarkable impact she had on those she touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the SPCA in Peggy's memory, ensuring that her passion for helping those in need continues to make a difference.
Peggy Myers Rooks will forever remain in our hearts, a testament to a life beautifully lived and a soul that brought warmth and joy to all. May she rest in peace, knowing her light shines on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
