Peggy Myers Rooks

August 24, 1946 — May 5, 2026

Peggy Myers Rooks, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on August 24, 1946, in Hagerstown, Maryland, Peggy was the cherished daughter of Howard and Nellie (Pike) Sites, both of whom preceded her in death. Her life was a testament to love, compassion, and resilience, and her presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Peggy's journey began in Hagerstown, where she grew up surrounded by the warmth of a close-knit family. She graduated from Greencastle Antrim High School in 1964, where she formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. In the same year, she married Floyd Myers, with whom she shared a loving partnership that brought them two beautiful children, Toni and James Myers. Later in life, Peggy found love again with her dear husband, Wesley Rooks, who also predeceased her. A dedicated professional, Peggy worked diligently at Sherwin Williams for 34 years, where her kindness and work ethic left a lasting impression. In 1988, she earned her associate's degree from Catonsville Community College, a testament to her commitment to lifelong learning. After retiring, she embraced a new chapter in The Villages, Florida, where she continued to touch lives with her warmth and generosity. Peggy's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Toni Myers, and her son, James Myers, and his wife, Crystal. Her heart was further filled by her cherished granddaughters, Kaycee (Glenn) Wolfsheimer, Lacey (Nicholas) Goff, Samantha (Matthew) Myers, and Alexis Myers, as well as her three great-grandchildren. Though she faced the heartache of losing her grandson, Bradley Goff, Peggy's spirit remained indomitable, always finding strength in her family's love. Her passions extended beyond family to her love of dancing, a pastime that brought her immense joy and countless friendships. Peggy was known for her vibrant spirit on the dance floor and her ability to light up a room with her smile. Her friends and family remember her as a very giving and caring person, always ready to lend a helping hand and offer comfort to those in need. In addition to her parents and grandson, Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Wesley, and her siblings, three sisters and a brother, with whom she is now joyously reunited. Her legacy of kindness, resilience, and love will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. A celebration of Peggy's life will be held in a private ceremony, where her loved ones will gather to honor her memory and the indelible mark she left on their lives. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Peggy's name to a charity of your choice, reflecting her lifelong dedication to helping others. Peggy Myers Rooks will forever be remembered for her boundless love, unwavering strength, and the joy she brought to everyone she encountered. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends for generations to come.
