In Memoriam: Peggy Myers Rooks, a cherished soul, who graced this world with her kindness and warmth, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, just shy of her 80th birthday. Born on August 24, 1946, in the quaint town of Hagerstown, Maryland, Peggy was a beacon of love and resilience throughout her life.
Peggy was the beloved daughter of the late Howard and Nellie (Pike) Sites, who instilled in her the values of compassion and generosity. She was predeceased by her devoted parents, her grandson Bradley Goff, three sisters, and a brother, who she held close in her heart. Peggy was a devoted family woman, survived by her loving daughter Toni Myers, and her son James Myers and his wife Crystal. Her legacy lives on through her granddaughters, Kaycee (Glenn) Wolfsheimer, Lacey (Nicholas) Goff, Samantha (Matthew) Myers, and Alexis Myers, as well as her three great-grandchildren, who brought her unending joy.
Peggy found love and companionship in her life through her marriages. In August of 1964, she married Floyd Myers, with whom she shared many beautiful years. Later, she found love again with Wesley Rooks, cherishing their time together.
A graduate of Greencastle Antrim High School in 1964, Peggy pursued her passion for learning by earning an associate degree from Catonsville Community College in 1988. Her career was marked by dedication and hard work, as she devoted 34 years to Sherwin Williams before embracing retirement in the vibrant community of The Villages in Florida.
Peggy's life was filled with joy and laughter, often found dancing with friends and family, creating memories that would last a lifetime. She had a remarkable ability to bring smiles to those around her, always offering a helping hand to anyone in need. Her giving nature and caring spirit left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
As we gather to celebrate Peggy's life, let us remember the warmth she shared and the love she spread. Her legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and unwavering support for her family and friends. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of all who knew her.
A memorial service to honor Peggy Myers Rooks will be held at a later date, where family and friends will come together to celebrate a life well-lived, a heart well-loved, and a soul that will forever shine brightly in our memories. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Peggy's honor to a charitable organization of your choice, keeping her spirit of giving alive.
May Peggy's gentle soul rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love she so generously shared in her lifetime.
