It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Peggy Mericle, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world on April 11, 2026. Born on February 21, 1960, in the sunlit state of Arizona, Peggy brought warmth and joy to everyone she encountered. She was the cherished daughter of the late Claude Oneil Sr and Versylee Outlaw, who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms into the eternal embrace of peace.
Peggy's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, adventure, and family. She was a beacon of affection and devotion, known for the profound and unwavering love she held for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her nurturing spirit and adventurous soul were the foundation upon which she built a life rich in memories and experiences.
Her adventurous nature was not just a hobby but a way of life. Peggy adored exploring the world and sharing those experiences with her loved ones. Whether it was a spontaneous road trip, or a day at the beach, Peggy infused every moment with her vibrant spirit and laughter. Her adventures were not just journeys through space, but journeys of the heart, bringing her family closer together and creating bonds that time can never erase.
Peggy is survived by her loving brother, Claude Oneil Jr, and her devoted sister, Susan Fleshman. Her legacy of love continues through her children: daughter Jennifer Mericle; son Davy Mericle and his wife, Moon Mericle; son Justin Rivera and his wife, Raelynn Gomez-Rivera; son Michael Rivera; son James Nicholas Ward and his wife, Megan Ward; and daughter Jayme Ward. Each carries forward her spirit of kindness, joy, and adventure.
Her family was her greatest pride, and she reveled in the roles of grandmother and great-grandmother, blessed with eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Peggy's heart swelled with love for each of them, and she took immense joy in watching them grow.
Though Peggy's physical presence has left this earth, her spirit remains an indelible force in the lives of all who knew her. Her legacy of love, adventure, and boundless generosity will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends as they navigate the world without her.
