In Loving Memory

Peggy June Shaw
June 29, 1932 — October 25, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Peggy June Shaw, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who left us on October 25, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on June 29, 1932, in Belton, Missouri, Peggy was the youngest of four children born to Arthur and Cleo Hanson.
Peggy's journey through life was marked by love, resilience, and creativity. After graduating from North Hollywood High School, she embarked on a varied and fulfilling career. Peggy held positions at Benefit Life Insurance, Bank of America, a real estate company, an automotive business, and the Hollywood Citizen News and Stationary Store. Her professional life was characterized by her dedication and attention to detail.
At 18, Peggy married her first husband, Tony Gueci, and they welcomed their son Marco into the world when she was 20. Tragically, Tony passed away shortly after Marco's birth. At 21, Peggy met Marty Shaw, and they began a new chapter together, marrying when she was 25. Together, they had two more children, Valerie and Kevin, and shared many loving years until Marty's passing.
Peggy was a woman of boundless creativity. She was known for her vibrant outfits and her ability to infuse color and life into everything she touched. Whether through painting, sewing, crocheting, knitting, or needlepoint, her artistic spirit knew no bounds. Peggy also had a passion for solving crossword puzzles, reading avidly, and nurturing her garden. Her laughter was infectious, and her candid nature left an indelible impact on all who knew her.
Family was the cornerstone of Peggy's life. She leaves behind her daughter Valerie, son Kevin and his wife Cherry, daughter-in-law Lisa, seven grandchildren and their spouses, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Her legacy of love and joy lives on in each of them.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Shirlee, Merle, and Jean, her first husband Tony, her second husband Marty, and her eldest son Marco. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, after an extended stay in the hospital. Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Maui Memorial Hospital and Maui Hospice for their care and support.
A celebration of Peggy's life will take place on February 20, 2027, at 12:00 PM at the Kula Community Center, located at 4303 Lower Kula Rd, Kula, HI 96790. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Peggy's memory to the Maui Humane Society in Puunene, HI, whose mission Peggy ardently supported.
As we honor Peggy's remarkable life, we cherish the memories she created and the love she shared with us all. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us.
