Peggy Dodson

Peggy Dodson, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed peacefully at home in her sleep on October 8, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion. Born on December 4, 1969, in Illinois, Peggy was the beloved daughter of James and Darlene Mayhan, who preceded her in death along with her dear sister, Carol Anne. Peggy spent her life creating a warm and welcoming home, filled with laughter, joy, and unwavering support for her family. She shared a loving marriage with her devoted husband, Scott Dodson, and together they built a family that was her greatest pride and joy. Her children, Samantha Chavers, Nicholas Lee, Cassondra Bradford, and Cory Smallwood, were the center of her world, and she found immense happiness in their accomplishments and lives. Peggy was also blessed with 13 grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Beyond her family, Peggy was known for her dedication to community service and her active involvement in the Evening Shade VFW, where she formed lifelong friendships and contributed to numerous charitable efforts. Her kindness and generosity touched many lives, and she will be fondly remembered for her unwavering spirit and gentle soul. In honor of Peggy's lifelong commitment to helping others, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause close to her heart. The organization, based in Memphis, TN, continues its vital work in pediatric research and care, a mission Peggy wholeheartedly supported. The family extends their deepest gratitude to all the friends and loved ones who surrounded Peggy with love and comfort throughout her life, and especially during her final moments. As they reflect on her life, they express their heartfelt appreciation, knowing she loved each of you more than words can convey. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Peggy's life, as the family gathers to celebrate her memory in an intimate setting. Though she may no longer be with us, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
