It is with heavy hearts yet grateful spirits that we announce the passing of Peggie Diello, a beloved mother, wife, and cherished friend. Peggie left this world on May 21, 2026, at the age of 72, in the compassionate care of the Corning Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare. Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and dedication, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born on May 8, 1954, Peggie's journey began in a world she would touch with her kindness and grace. She pursued her education at Elmira College, where she developed a profound love for learning and a commitment to making a difference. Throughout her life, Peggie carried the values she cultivated during her academic years, remaining a lifelong advocate for education and community service.
Peggie was the cherished wife of the late Edward J. Diello, with whom she shared a deep and abiding love. Together, they created a nurturing home filled with laughter, compassion, and unwavering support. Peggie's heart was further expanded with the birth of her son, Christopher Diello, who survives her and carries forth her legacy of kindness and integrity.
Her faith was a guiding light in her life, and she was an active and devoted member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church. Peggie found great joy and solace within the church community, contributing her time and talents to various ministries and outreach programs. Her spirit of generosity and hospitality was felt by all who entered her life.
A celebration of Peggie's life will be held on June 16, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, located at 408 S Main St., Horseheads, NY 14845. Family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by Peggie are warmly invited to join us in honoring her memory and celebrating the beautiful life she lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Chemung County Humane Society and SPCA in Peggie's name, a cause dear to her heart. Her compassion extended to all creatures, great and small, exemplifying her deep connection to the world around her.
Peggie Diello's memory will live on in the hearts of those she loved and in the community she enriched with her presence. Her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and boundless love for her family and friends will forever be cherished.
