In Loving Memory

Peggie Bikakis Trimble
March 17, 1943 — October 26, 2026
Peggie Bikakis Trimble, of Novato, California, passed away on October 26, 2026, from congestive heart failure. She was 83.
Born in San Francisco on March 17, 1943, Peggie was gifted with a talent that would shape her entire life. At just 12 years old, she entered a national sewing contest held by the Singer Sewing Company. Competing against more than 60,000 contestants from across the country, she advanced through local and regional rounds and placed third at the National Finals in New York City.
That early promise became a lifelong craft. Peggie ran her own couture sewing business, handling everything from minor alterations for Novato neighbors to creating one-of-a-kind bridal gowns. She taught sewing classes throughout the Bay Area while working at New York Fabrics and later JoAnn Fabrics, where her students admired her attention to detail, her patience, and her endless creativity. She also worked as a bank teller in Novato and around Marin, taking quiet pride in balancing her money box to the exact penny.
Strong-willed and determined, Peggie set her mind to something and nothing could stop her. Her greatest joy was her two daughters, Debbie and Kathleen. She sewed their clothes, made matching outfits for their dolls, served as their Room Mother, and cheered them through dance recitals, Greek dancing, Girl Scouts, and piano lessons. Proud of her Greek heritage, she was known for her baklava and spanakopita, and she adored her many West Highland White Terriers over the decades.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Bikakis, and her sister, Eleanor Bikakis Suri. She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Shields (Kevin) and Kathleen Mackechnie (Mike), and her grandchildren, Nicholas, Grace, and Alex Mackechnie.
A Trisagion service will be held at Nativity of Christ Church in Novato on Wednesday evening at 6:00. Funeral services will follow at Nativity on Thursday morning at 11:00, with a Makaria to follow. Private burial will take place at the Greek Orthodox Cemetery in Colma, California.
May her memory be eternal.
