February 8, 2013 — October 28, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Payton Engelkes, who left us far too soon on October 28, 2026. Born on February 8, 2013, in the sunny state of California, Payton brought joy, laughter, and an indomitable spirit to all who had the privilege of knowing them.
Payton, the cherished child of Amy and Mark Engelkes, was a bright light in the lives of their family and friends. As a student at Banks Trail Middle School, Payton was known for their kindness, curiosity, and eagerness to learn. Their teachers and classmates admired Payton's ability to bring warmth and happiness to those around them, leaving a lasting impression that will not soon fade.
Remarkably, Payton proudly served in the military, demonstrating courage and dedication throughout their service. Though their time was brief, the impact of their commitment and sense of duty was felt deeply by their comrades and superiors alike.
Payton was a unique soul, full of speed and vibrancy, with a perspective that shone through in everything they did. They faced life's challenges with resilience and grace, embodying qualities that inspired those who knew them to be better, kinder people. Payton's family fondly recalls their special qualities, including their speed and the unique perspective that came with being on the autism spectrum, which brought a depth and richness to their interactions and relationships.
A service to honor Payton's life will be held on October 29, 2026, at 12:18. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Payton are invited to come together to celebrate their life and legacy.
