Pauline Gensman
August 22, 1945 — June 4, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Pauline "Polly" Gensman, who departed this world on June 4, 2026, at the age of 80. Polly passed away peacefully in Canby, Oregon, surrounded by her loving family. Her journey began on August 22, 1945, in Vancouver, Washington, born to Edna and Louie George, and she was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Polly spent her formative years on the family farm in Washington, where she developed a deep connection to the land and a strong work ethic that would characterize her life. She attended Amboy Elementary and graduated from Battleground High School in 1963. Soon after, she embarked on a career as a payroll clerk, first for a trucking company and later for Payless, which eventually became RiteAid in Wilsonville, Oregon. She dedicated herself to her work until her retirement in 2012.
Polly was predeceased by her parents, Edna Wooldridge and Louie George, her stepfather Gene Wooldridge, and her sister Kathy Meucci. Her memory lives on through her surviving family: her cherished son Jared Gensman and his wife April, and her adored grandchildren Connor, Derek, Rachelle, and Ethan Gensman. Polly is also survived by her brothers, Dan George (Barb) of Vancouver, Washington, and Carl George (Kit) and Mick George (Julie) of Amboy, Washington, as well as her sister Evelyn Pierce of Medford, Oregon. Her extended family of nieces, nephews, and friends will forever remember her warmth and generosity.
Polly was a woman of many talents and passions. Her hands were never idle, and she found joy in creating beautiful quilts for her loved ones, each stitch sewn with care and affection. Her green thumb was evident in the bountiful gardens she cultivated each year, sharing the fruits of her labor with neighbors and friends alike. Polly had an adventurous spirit and a love for travel, which she indulged with her sister Evelyn, exploring the rich histories of England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland, and making cherished memories on trips to Montana, Wyoming, and their family homestead in Wisconsin.
To know Polly was to love her. Her radiant smile and infectious laughter brought light to the lives of those around her. She embodied kindness and compassion, always ready with a listening ear and a comforting word. Polly's legacy is one of love, strength, and devotion to her family and friends.
As we bid farewell to Polly, we celebrate a life well-lived and a spirit that will continue to inspire us. Her memory will be a guiding light, reminding us to embrace each day with the same grace and joy she exemplified.
A private family service will be held to honor Polly's life and the indelible mark she left on our hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Polly's name to a charity of your choice, reflecting her generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
