Paulette McCutchen

October 16, 1946 — June 25, 2026

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Paulette McCutchen, a cherished mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother, who left us on June 25, 2026, at the age of 79. Paulette passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with dementia, surrounded by the love and warmth of her family. Paulette was born on October 16, 1946, in Scottsboro, Alabama, to Andy McCutchen and Louise Sears. Raised in a home filled with love and laughter, she carried those values throughout her life, touching countless lives with her kindness and unwavering strength. Her parents, along with her beloved sisters, Janie Drake and Terry Jo Blake, preceded her in death, and she is now lovingly reunited with them in eternity. A devoted and nurturing mother, Paulette is survived by her son, Greg Scales, who was the light of her life. Her legacy of love continues through her two treasured grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. Paulette embraced her role as a grandmother with open arms, always ready with a warm hug, wise words, or delightful stories that brought smiles to their faces. Paulette's familial bonds extended far beyond immediate family, as she was a beloved sister to Jerline Holden and Andy McCutchen and a cherished aunt to Shereta McCutcheon, Shameta Blake, Linda Kimbrough, Ronald Drake, William Blake, Carlos Drake, Bernard Drake, Dexter Holden, and Derick Holden. Her nieces and nephews remember her as a guiding light and a source of encouragement, always there to celebrate their successes and support them through challenges. Paulette's life was a testament to resilience and grace. Despite the challenges she faced, particularly in her battle with dementia, her spirit remained unyielded and her heart full of love. She had an uncanny ability to light up a room with her smile and her laughter. As we say goodbye, we find comfort in the memories of Paulette's love imparted on all of us. Her strength, kindness, and unwavering faith have left an indelible mark on everyone she met. A celebration of Paulette's life will be held at Nelms Memorial Funeral Home, where family and friends will gather to honor her legacy and share in the stories that highlight the beautiful life she led. Paulette McCutchen will be dearly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love of those who welcomed her home.

The Broken Chain

We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone. For part of us went with you the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide, and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one the chain will link again.

Special Thanks

The family of Paulette McCutchen extends heartfelt gratitude to Elk River Health and Nursing Center for their continued love, care and support that they have provided.
