May 5, 1949 — March 16, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Paula Lowery, who departed this world on March 16, 2026, at the age of 76, in Bethesda, Maryland. Born on May 5, 1949, in Bethesda, Paula was a beacon of light and strength, whose indomitable spirit touched all who had the privilege of knowing her. Paula was the cherished daughter of the late Harold and Mary Thompson, who instilled in her a deep sense of compassion and resilience. Following in their footsteps, Paula led a life dedicated to family, faith, and community service. She was a devoted mother to her four children: Kristen Piper, Kari Lowery, Kendra Lowery, and Harold Lowery, who, along with his wife Allison Letkiewicz, continue to uphold the values and love she bestowed upon them. Paula's legacy also lives on through her six treasured grandchildren: Emma Piper, Megan Piper, Carys Lowery, Gabriel Lowery, Ava Lowery, and Milo Lowery, who brought immense joy to her life. Paula's sisters, Natalie Thompson and Cheryl Thompson, survive her and remember her as a sister whose laughter could light up a room and whose warmth was a source of comfort to all. Professionally, Paula dedicated her career to precision and service as a court reporter. Her meticulous nature and dedication to her work earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. Outside of her career, Paula was deeply involved in her community as an active member of Lake Ridge Baptist Church, where her faith was both a pillar and a guiding light. Her 20-year commitment to Operation Christmas Child exemplified her generous spirit and her fervent belief in giving back to those in need. An enthusiast of life, Paula was never one to sit idle. Her love for reading was only matched by her zest for playing bunco, toll painting, and tackling puzzles. Her garden was her sanctuary, a testament to her nurturing nature and her love for the beauty of life. Paula was a vibrant presence, always engaged in activities that brought joy and connection to her and those around her. Paula's battle with ovarian cancer was as courageous as it was inspiring. Her unwavering strength and positivity throughout her illness served as a testament to her incredible character and her unyielding will to live fully. As we gather to celebrate Paula's life, we remember a woman of unparalleled grace, kindness, and resilience. Her memory will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Paula Lowery leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and an enduring spirit that will be carried forward by those she loved. A service to honor Paula's life will be held at Lake Ridge Baptist Church on a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Operation Christmas Child in Paula's memory, ensuring her legacy of compassion and generosity continues to make a difference in the world. Rest in peace, dear Paula. You will be missed beyond measure, but your spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved you.
