With profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Paula (Polly) Herriott, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, on ____at the age of __ Paula departed this world surrounded by the love of her family, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, wisdom, and enduring kindness. Born on September 29, 1944, in Seattle, Washington, Polly was the cherished daughter of Fredrick and Charlotte Roth. She grew up in a household filled with love and laughter and her journey through life was marked by a dedication to family and education, values instilled in her from a young age. Polly”s academic pursuits took her from Columbiana High School in Ohio, where she graduated in 1962, to the sunny landscapes of Florida. There, she earned a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Florida in 1966. Her passion for nurturing young minds led her to further her education with a Master's in Early Childhood Education from Florida International University in 1989. In Vero Beach, Florida, on December 29, 1964, Polly exchanged vows with her beloved Art, starting a journey of partnership and love that spanned over __years. Together, they nurtured a beautiful family, raising two devoted sons, Greg (Breanna) and Jeff (Ellie Schemenauer) and had many camping and overseas travel adventures along their journey. Polly”s career was a testament to her commitment to education and community. In __, she co-founded a nursery school at the First Presbyterian Church in Albany, New York, and dedicated 32 years to teaching in both private and public schools after relocating to Miami, Florida, in 1973. Her influence extended beyond the classroom, touching the lives of countless students and their families. In Miami, Polly was an active member of the Kendall United Methodist Church, singing in the Chancel Choir and participating in Branches outreach program. Her love of nature found expression in her volunteer work at Fairchild Tropical Botanical Gardens. Later, in Texas, Polly continued her community involvement with the Friends of the Georgetown Public Library, League of Women Voters, and the American Association of University Women. A lifelong learner and avid reader, Polly was an active member of three book clubs, where she shared her love of literature and lively discussions. Her joy for life was evident in her weekly mahjong games, participation in Sun City activities, and her frequent visits to theater and arts events in downtown Georgetown. Polly’s life was enriched by the love of her family, including her three treasured grandchildren, Hannah and Gavin Herriott, and Karis Schemenauer, who were the lights of her life. She leaves behind her beloved husband Art, dear brother, Fredrick Roth, Jr. (Paula), and sisters, Diane Bush (Fred) and Kristin Roth, who will forever hold her memory close. Polly was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Marcia LaBounty. Her spirit remains in the hearts of those who knew her, a testament to a life filled with love, laughter, and lasting friendships. As we say goodbye to Polly, we celebrate her remarkable life and the indelible mark she left on all who were fortunate to know her. Her legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will continue to inspire us all. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Polly’s memory to the Georgetown Public Library or a charitable organization of your choice. A memorial service to honor Paula's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to share memories and celebrate a life well-lived. Polly will be dearly missed, cherished always, and remembered with profound love and respect.
