Paula Werner

Paula Werner, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026, after a long journey with illness. Born on March 4, 1954, in Roswell, New Mexico, Paula was the cherished daughter of Willis and Nanette Cline. She was predeceased by her loving parents and her sister, Karla (Cline) Elmore. Paula's life was marked by devotion and love. She married the love of her life, David Werner, on May 22, 1976. Together, they celebrated 50 years of marriage, raising two wonderful children, Stephanie and David. Paula is survived by her siblings Kerry, Christopher and Jennifer, her devoted husband David, her daughter Stephanie (Werner) Tyler and son-in-law Jarrod Tyler, her son David Werner and daughter-in-law Courtney (Montgomery) Werner. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandsons, Andrew, Nicolas, and Noah Tyler. Her role as Mimi for the last twenty years was the joy of her life, and she loved spending time with them. Education was a significant part of Paula's journey. She graduated from Port Jervis Senior High in 1972 and pursued higher education at Ouchita Baptist University, earning her degree in 1976. Paula dedicated 27 years of her career as Department of Army civilian, specializing in computer security at Ft. McPherson. With her expertise, she rose to become a department head, writing essential policies that shaped the future of the department. Even after retirement, Paula's many years of typing were evident as she could be found typing out words on her leg while listening to commercials or sermons. A woman of great faith, Paula was an active member of Trinity Chapel church and several other congregations after returning to the United States from Japan. Her involvement in choirs, women’s ministry, and nursery demonstrated her passion for serving others, especially women and children. Paula was a prayer warrior! Her dedication to interceding on behalf of her friends and family was strong and appreciated by all. Paula's interests were as vibrant as her spirit. She was an avid lover of horses, Disney, and musicals. Her love for classic sitcoms like MASH and Andy Griffith, as well as newer shows like Gilmore Girls, was shared with her family. Paula cherished game nights with her church friends and family, creating memories filled with laughter and camaraderie. Her enthusiasm for reading, singing, playing the piano, and doing puzzles enriched her life and those around her. Known for her adventurous driving and impeccable cleaning skills, Paula brought joy and excellence to everything she pursued. If there was an Olympic sport for cleaning, she would win gold! She was also famous for her chocolate chip cookies. She never went to a gathering without her yellow Tupperware container full of cookies, and it always went back home empty. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Benton Village for their compassionate care during Paula's final weeks, as well as to their church and close friends for their unwavering support. Paula loved children, and St. Jude's Children's Hospital held a special place in her heart. If you would like to make a donation to St. Jude's in her memory, it would be a perfect way to honor her.
