Paul Steward Pearson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, at the Russellville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on April 20, 1935, in Evanston, Illinois, Paul lived a life marked by devotion to his family, dedication to his work, and a deep sense of community.
Paul was the cherished son of Ernest M. Pearson and Lauretta I. Pearson and the second born of twins, alongside his brother Martin, who predeceased him. Paul was also preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, and his nephew Andrew. He is survived by his devoted wife Diane, his children Sherry (Vince), John, and Mark (Sarah), and his grandchildren Hilary, Joseph, Noah, and Lulu. Paul was also blessed with a great-grandchild, Sadie. His large extended family includes many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom will miss him dearly.
A proud graduate of Lane Technical High School in June 1954, Paul served in the Navy Reserves before deciding to join the U.S. Air Force, where he dedicated two years of service to his country. After his honorable service, he pursued further education at Chicago Technical School, earning an associate degree in Mechanical Engineering. Paul’s career as a draftsman spanned several companies, most notably A.B. Dick, where he worked for 13 years before the company downsized. Ever adaptable, Paul embraced new technologies and learned CAD, a challenge he relished. He retired at the age of 62 to provide care for his mother, demonstrating his innate compassion and dedication to family.
Paul was a man of faith, actively participating in the Northwest Baptist Church in Chicago and the United Church of Sandwich. He was involved in choir, prayer groups, and an accountability men's group. In his later years, he joined the Russellville United Methodist Church, where he was enveloped in love and prayer, even as health issues limited his active participation.
Known for his humor and penchant for "Dad jokes," Paul had a knack for storytelling, often reciting silly rhymes and tales with his brother Marty. He was passionate about his children’s accomplishments and loved discussing mechanical innovations, gardening tips, and computer technology. His hobbies included working with his hands, fishing, and gardening, and he was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears.
A service to honor Paul’s life will be held at Humphrey Funeral Home, located at 2801 W. Main St., Russellville, Arkansas. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Russellville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their thoughtful care and to Life Touch Hospice for their excellent support as Paul neared the end of his life.

Prayer of St. Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may
not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.
