It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Paul Raythell Stewart, who left this world on September 15, 2026. Born on November 1, 1962, in Corpus Christi, Texas, Paul was a beacon of love and laughter, profoundly impacting all who knew him.
Paul was the cherished son of the late Maude E. Thomas-Stewart and Warren G. Stewart Sr. He is also proceeded by his beloved brothers, Billy Stewart, Clarence Stewart, Warren Stewart Jr., and Foy "Fat Cat" Stewart; his grandchild, Ariah M. Powell; and Myrna "Bunnie" Jones, the mother of his children. His legacy lives on through his loving family, Brother Rev. Dr. Mark D. (Linda) Stewart, and his ten children: Reggie (Shantillia) Clark of San Antonio, Texas; Natalie (Ernest) Powell, Nicole Stewart, Kellen (Erica) Stewart, Melanie (Grady) Stewart, all of Corpus Christi, Texas; Latasha Thomas of Killeen, Texas; Sabrina (Kevin "Furl") Wilson of Lakeland, Florida; Quamane (Kathleen) Stewart of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Logan Stewart and Reagan Stewart of Sugarland, Texas. Paul was also married to Muriel Hicks-Stewart.
Paul found immense joy in his role as a grandfather to 22 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. His family was his pride and joy, and he never missed an opportunity to express his love for them. Known for his unique habit of bestowing personalized names upon his loved ones, Paul had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel special.
A graduate of West Oso High School, Paul embarked on a career that highlighted his versatility as a jack of all trades, specializing in landscaping. In his early years, he worked for Claude Coleman Trucking, where he honed skills that would serve him throughout his life. Dedicated to his craft, Paul took great pride in his yard work and detailing cars for family and friends, activities that brought him both satisfaction and peace.
Paul was a devout member of Rising Star Baptist Church for many years, finding strength and community within its walls. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, providing him with guidance and comfort.
Known for his quick wit and endless supply of jokes, Paul brought joy and laughter to all who crossed his path. His willingness to lend a helping hand was a testament to his generous spirit, and he was always ready to offer support to those in need.
A service to honor and celebrate Paul's life will be held on October 3, 2026, at 11:00 AM. The location will be announced at a later date. The family extends their deepest gratitude to Elite Life Celebrations for their exceptional care in handling their fathers remains.
We will forever cherish the memories and the laughter he shared. Rest in peace, dear Paul. You will be deeply missed and always remembered.
