It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Paul Otis Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this life peacefully on May 1, 2026. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on February 7, 1960, Paul was a man known for his strength, kindness, and the steady presence he brought into the lives of those around him. He carried himself with quiet wisdom and a warm heart, always willing to lend a hand or share a laugh.
Paul was born to John and Margaret Otis, whose love and guidance helped shape the man he became. Throughout his life, Paul valued family above all else. He took great pride in the moments spent with his loved ones, creating memories that will be cherished forever. Whether through his guidance, his stories, or simply his presence, he left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Paul Otis shared a lifetime of love and companionship with his beloved wife, Margaret Otis. They were married in a warm ceremony surrounded by family and friends, beginning a partnership built on mutual respect, laughter, and unwavering support. Throughout their years together, Paul and Margaret faced life’s challenges hand in hand, celebrating milestones, raising a family, and creating a home filled with love and cherished memories. Their devotion to one another remained a constant source of strength and inspiration to all who knew them.
Paul Otis was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Margaret and John Otis; his siblings, Eleanor and James Otis; his grandparents, Clara and Henry Otis; his dear aunt and uncle, Dorothy and Walter Simmons; as well as cousins Laura Simmons, Michael Simmons, and Rachel Otis. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Paul is survived by his devoted children, Dewayne and Olivia Otis; his grandchildren, Sophia, Lucas, and James Otis Jr.; his siblings, Martha Jenkins and Robert Otis; his nieces and nephews, Angela Carter and Thomas Otis; and his daughter-in-law, Linda Harris, all of whom will carry his memory in their hearts. His love and legacy will continue through his seven cherished grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.
Paul Otis will be remembered for the love he gave, the lessons he taught, and the legacy he leaves behind. He will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and unwavering love for his family. A private memorial service will be held with close family and friends to honor his life and celebrate the impact he made on everyone who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to join in remembering Paul Otis Sr. during a memorial service on April 9, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Refuge Temple Revival Center, located at 2245 East Riverside Drive. Together, we will celebrate the life of a remarkable man whose spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
