In Loving Memory

Paul Matthew Lee
June 15, 1958 — April 2, 2026
With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Paul Matthew Lee, who left this world on April 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of his cherished family. Born on June 15, 1958, in the welcoming town of Marion, NC, Paul lived a life rich in love, laughter, and the unwavering support of family and friends.
Paul was the beloved son of Bruce and Sue Lee, who instilled in him the values of kindness, integrity, and resilience. He was preceded in death by his devoted parents, his loving sister Mary Ruppe, and his dear brother Donald Lee. Their memories were cherished by Paul, who often spoke of them with great affection and respect.
A devoted husband, Paul shared a remarkable 53-year journey with his wife, Martha. Their bond was a testament to enduring love and partnership, a beacon of commitment that inspired all who knew them. Together, they built a family grounded in love and mutual respect, nurturing their children with wisdom and gentle guidance.
Paul's legacy lives on through his children, each of whom reflects his values and spirit: his sons, Jerry Lee of Marion, NC, and Author Lee of Ellenboro, NC, and his daughter Shawna Lee (married to Greg) of Rutherfordton. He was the proud grandfather of three wonderful grandchildren—Bethany Ward of Rutherfordton, Skyler Johnson of Shelby, and Jacob Lee (married to Meredith) of Charlotte—and a great-grandfather to seven delightful great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy and pride.
Paul's life was a tapestry of rich experiences and enduring relationships. He was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures—whether it was tending to his garden, sharing stories with his grandchildren, or offering a helping hand to a neighbor in need. He had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued, leaving a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Though our hearts are heavy with his passing, we find comfort in the legacy of love and kindness that Paul has left behind—a legacy that will continue to inspire and guide his family for generations to come.
Paul's family will honor his life with a private funeral ceremony, a reflection of the personal and intimate bonds he treasured throughout his life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Paul's memory to a charity of your choice, honoring his spirit of generosity and compassion.
As we bid farewell to Paul Matthew Lee, we do so with deep respect and admiration for a life beautifully lived and a legacy that will forever remain in our hearts. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
