It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Paul Matthew Lee, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who left this world peacefully on April 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family at his home in Marion, North Carolina. Born on June 15, 1958, in Marion, Paul was 67 years old. Paul was the cherished son of Jerry and Martha Lee and was predeceased by his loving parents, Bruce and Sue Lee, his sister Mary Ruppe, and his brother Donald Lee. He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Martha Lee, whose unwavering love and partnership were the cornerstone of his life. Together, they built a family that was a testament to their strength, resilience, and enduring love. A father whose love knew no bounds, Paul is survived by his children, each of whom carries forward his legacy of kindness, integrity, and generosity. His son Jerry Lee of Marion, NC, son Author Lee of Ellenboro, NC, and daughter Shawna Lee (Greg) of Rutherfordton, NC, were his pride and joy. Paul's heart was further filled with love by his grandchildren, Bethany Ward of Rutherfordton, Skyler Johnson of Shelby, and Jacob Lee (Meredith) of Charlotte, and by his seven great-grandchildren, who brought joy and laughter to his days. Paul's life was a tapestry woven with love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to his community and family. His gentle spirit, infectious laughter, and warm smile touched all who had the privilege to know him. Whether spending time with his family, working in his garden, or volunteering in his community, Paul approached life with a sense of purpose and compassion. Though his passing leaves a void that can never be filled, the memories he created and the lives he touched will forever be a testament to his remarkable spirit. Paul taught those around him the importance of kindness, the value of hard work, and the joy of living life to its fullest. His legacy is one of love, and his spirit will continue to guide and inspire his family and friends. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Paul's life, as per his wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Paul's memory to a charity of your choice, as giving back was one of the many ways he lived his life with purpose and love. Paul Matthew Lee will be deeply missed but will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His family finds solace in knowing that he is now at peace, reunited with those who have gone before him, and watching over them with the same love and tenderness he shared throughout his life.
