In Loving Memory

Paul Lambert Blackburn
May 18, 1944 — September 15, 2026
Paul Lambert Blackburn, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on September 15, 2026, in a tragic accident at his home. Born on May 18, 1944, in the serene landscapes of Sampson County, NC, Paul was the cherished son of Curtis Blackburn and Sudie Lee Pope.
Paul served in the US NAVY from 1962 to 1972 as a First Sargent Navy Officer and upon his honorable discharge he ran a very successful Garage as a mechanic until the morning he passed away.
Paul's life was a tapestry woven with love, adventure, and passion. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jo Carolyn Blackburn, with whom he shared many precious years. Their legacy continues through their loving children: Cathy Jo Blackburn of Reidsville, NC, and sons David Dwayne Blackburn and Paul Wayne Blackburn of Stem, NC. His spirit and love for life live on in his grandchildren, Casey Jo O'Briant and Tori Ann Thomas of Reidsville, NC, and his two great-grandchildren who will carry forward his memory.
Paul was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. His heart raced along with the engines at NASCAR races, and the gentle lapping of water against his boat brought him profound peace. These hobbies were not just pastimes but passions that defined his vibrant spirit.
In a heartfelt message, his family shares, "Papa to all that loved him passed away doing what he loved to do. He was working on his dune buggy and it somehow caught fire. He was safe at first but as we all know he went back into the fire for his dog and never come out." This act of bravery is a testament to his selfless nature and boundless love for those he held dear.
A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Paul's life, reflecting the deep personal connections he shared with his family and friends.
The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Paul's memory to a charity of your choice, as a tribute to his kindness and generosity.
Paul Lambert Blackburn will be remembered as a man who lived life with courage, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to his loved ones. His legacy will endure in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
