Paul Detwiler
April 8, 1966 – May 10, 2026
Seville, Ohio, was blessed with the birth of Paul Detwiler on April 8, 1966. He was a beloved son to Richard and Jean Detwiler, a devoted husband, a nurturing father, a cherished grandfather, a loving brother, and a steadfast friend. Paul departed this world on May 10, 2026, following a tragic farming accident, leaving behind an indelible legacy of love, dedication, and laughter.
Paul’s formative years were spent in the warm embrace of his family and the community of Seville. He graduated from Cloverleaf High School in 1984, where he began to cultivate his lifelong passion for agriculture. His pursuit of knowledge led him to Ohio State University, where he graduated with a degree in Dairy Science in 1988, setting the stage for a remarkable career in the dairy industry. From his early days at NOBA to his later contributions at Select Embryos, COBA, and eventually ST Genetics, Paul's commitment to excellence and innovation left a lasting imprint on the field.
In Seville, Paul met the love of his life, Shelly. Their enduring partnership spanned 37 beautiful years, marked by shared dreams, mutual respect, and unwavering support. Together, they raised two sons, Jake and Luke, who were the pride and joy of Paul's life. His sons were his greatest achievements, and he relished in their successes and adventures.
Paul was gifted with six grandchildren—Cayson, Bexlie, Layni, Jaxlynn, Camryn, and Levi. His heart swelled with pride and joy at their presence, often found cheering them on at their games or sharing stories of his cherished Buckeye and Cleveland teams. An avid sports fan, Paul’s spirit was woven into the fabric of every game, always believing that the next year would be the best for his beloved teams.
Paul was preceded in death by his brother, Matt Detwiler, yet his spirit lives on in the memories shared by his surviving family: his devoted wife Shelly, his sons Jake and Luke (Cori), and his grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Peg (Ed) Zigler, Carol (Mike) Estvanic, Sue (Chuck) Green, and Dan (Mary) Detwiler, along with 21 nieces and nephews and over 50 great-nieces and nephews, each of whom cherished his quick wit and gentle guidance.
A man of integrity and warmth, Paul was the best kind of salesman—quietly persuasive, with a quick wit and genuine passion for his industry. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Paul was a dedicated community member, sharing his love for sports by coaching tee ball and encouraging youth to pursue their potential.
A service to celebrate Paul’s life will be held at Northwest Presbyterian Church, located at 6400 Post Rd., on May 15, 2026, at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Springfield Foundation in memory of Paul Detwiler. Contributions can be made at https://www.springfieldfoundation.org/donate/overview.html, ensuring that Paul's legacy of kindness and community support continues to make a difference.
Paul Detwiler’s passing leaves a profound void, yet his spirit lives on in the hearts of all those he touched. His life was a testament to love, laughter, and the quiet strength that comes from a life well-lived. He will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
