In Loving Memory
Paul Bunkley
September 9, 1951 — April 10, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Bunkley, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, who departed this world on April 10, 2026, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on September 9, 1951, in bustling New York City, Paul was a beacon of light and laughter, touching countless lives with his kindness and generosity.
Paul was the beloved son of the late Paul Bunkley and Rita Fuller, and he grew up alongside his dear sister, Kathy Prince, who predeceased him. Paul was educated at Bishop Reilly High School, graduating in June of 1969, where he began to nurture his lifelong passions for baseball, comedy, and music—interests that would bring joy to many throughout his life.
On July 11, 1970, Paul married Carolyn Wisker, and together they embarked on a journey filled with love and laughter, raising three wonderful children: Christopher, Michael, and Jaime. Though their paths later diverged, the bond they created remained strong through their shared love for their family. Paul also welcomed three children-in-law—Jennifer, Lyni, and Jason—into his heart, embracing them as his own.
Paul was a devoted grandfather to Justine, Tyler, and Cyrene, who were the light of his life. His nieces and nephew, Angela, Stephanie and Tommy, also held special places in his heart, as did his brothers and sister-in-law, Tony (deceased), Thomas (deceased), Stephen, John and Maria.
For 25 years, Paul dedicated himself to Bell Atlantic Telephone Company, where he was not only a valued colleague but also a source of warmth and humor. His quick wit and warm smile were ever-present, and he was always ready with a joke to lighten the mood, making everyone feel welcomed and appreciated. His work extended beyond his career, as he was a proud member of the Telephone Pioneers Volunteer Clown Troupe, spreading joy and laughter wherever he went.
Paul’s life was a testament to kindness, generosity, and the power of a well-timed laugh. His ability to touch lives with his humor and warmth was a gift that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A private memorial service to celebrate Paul's life will be held at a later date.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. Paul’s legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and his spirit will continue to inspire laughter and love in all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Paul’s name to organizations supporting pancreatic cancer research, in hopes of bringing comfort to those who continue to fight this courageous battle.
May Paul rest in peace, forever remembered for the joy he brought to all who knew him.
