Muncie, Indiana – Patti Warner, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and esteemed educator, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on May 29, 1933, in Muncie, Indiana, Patti was the beloved daughter of Edna and Virgil Black. Her life was a testament to love, dedication, and community service. Patti's formative years were spent in the comforting embrace of Muncie, where she cultivated a passion for learning and service. She graduated from Muncie Central High School in the class of 1952, a place where she laid the foundation for a lifelong commitment to education. Her academic journey continued at Ball State University, where she earned her degree in 1963 and later completed her Master’s degree in 1967. On February 2, 1952, Patti married the love of her life, Gene Warner, in a ceremony held in their hometown. Together, they shared 65 beautiful years of marriage, a union marked by profound love and mutual respect. Gene preceded her in death, as did their beloved granddaughter, Meredith. Patti and Gene's enduring partnership was an inspiration to all who knew them. As a dedicated educator, Patti spent 30 years teaching primary grades at Union School Corporation. Her passion for nurturing young minds was evident in her classroom, where she inspired countless students with her patience, kindness, and unwavering belief in their potential. Patti's legacy as a teacher lives on in the many lives she touched. Patti was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Muncie, where she found a community that mirrored her values of faith, service, and compassion. Her dedication to her church was evident in her active participation from her youth through her later years. Patti's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her loving children, Tom (Debbie) Warner, Debbie (Doug) Gregg, Julie (Glen) Holbert, and Kathy (Tim) Courtney. Her nurturing spirit lives on in her 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Patti's home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the joy of family gatherings, where her love was the unifying thread. In celebration of Patti's life, a service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Muncie, where friends and family will gather to honor her memory and the remarkable life she led. Patti's legacy is one of love, education, and faith—a legacy that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Muncie or the Union School Corporation, ensuring that Patti's passion for education and community continues to flourish in her memory. Patti Warner leaves behind a world made better by her presence, a testament to a life well-lived and a love that will endure forever. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her, and her spirit will remain in the hearts of those she loved.
