Patricia Murrell Smith

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia, a beloved partner, sister, aunt, and friend, who left this world on July 25, 2026, after a courageous battle with illness. Born on November 10, 1961, in Chicago, Illinois, Patricia was the cherished daughter of the late James and Ruth Murrell. Patricia's life was a testament to kindness, resilience, and unwavering dedication. She was predeceased by her parents and her four brothers, Calvin, Kempte, Gregory, and Ricky, all of whom she loved dearly. Patricia's spirit and love will forever be cherished by her devoted partner, Walter Goodman, her sister Vera D. Moore, and a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends who were more like family. Patricia graduated from Thornton High School in Harvey, Illinois, and went on to dedicate 31 years of service as a Unit Secretary at Phoebe Putney Hospital. Her colleagues and patients at the hospital were blessed by her compassion and meticulous care, which she maintained until her final days. An active member of First Mount Olive Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia, Patricia found joy and solace in her faith community. Her contributions to the church were many, but her warm smile and caring nature left a lasting impact on all who knew her. Patricia had a passion for cooking and interior decorating, hobbies that brought beauty and joy into the lives of her loved ones. Her gatherings were known for the warmth of her hospitality and the delicious meals she lovingly prepared. A service to celebrate Patricia's life will be held on August 1, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the First Mount Olive Baptist Church, located at 512 Corn Ave, Albany, GA 31701. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at Phoebe Putney Hospital and Wilson Hospice for their compassionate care of Patricia. Though Patricia leaves behind no children, her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched. She will be dearly missed and remembered for her loving nature and the joy she brought into the world. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Patricia's memory to a charity of one's choice. Forever in our hearts, Patricia's memory will remain a guiding light for all who had the honor of knowing her.
