It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Patricia Wade on May 21, 2026. Patricia, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, left this world gently at her home in Des Moines, Iowa, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on April 27, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, Patricia was the cherished daughter of Edda and Robert Wood. She grew up with a strong sense of compassion and a desire to care for others, which she carried with her throughout her life. Patricia dedicated 42 years to her calling as a nurse at Lutheran Hospital, where she cared for countless patients with unwavering dedication and kindness. Her colleagues remember her as a beacon of empathy and professionalism, always willing to lend a hand or offer a comforting word. In Des Moines, Patricia found her soulmate in Edward Beenchum, with whom she shared 48 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Patricia was a devoted wife and a remarkable partner, supporting Edward in all of life's endeavors. Family was at the heart of Patricia's life. She was the proud and loving grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, who knew her as their greatest cheerleader. Patricia's home was a haven of warmth, where her grandchildren spent joyful hours creating lasting memories. Her love extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of all who knew her. Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Edda and Robert Wood, and her dear daughters, Sharon and Vickie May. Her legacy of love, compassion, and resilience lives on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. In addition to her devotion to family and career, Patricia had a passion for sewing. Her creations were a testament to her creativity and attention to detail, bringing joy to those fortunate enough to receive them. A service to celebrate Patricia's life will be held on June 1, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Geils Funeral Home, located at 180 S York Road, Bensenville, IL 60106. Friends and family are invited to join in honoring a truly remarkable woman who touched so many lives with her kindness and grace. As we say goodbye to Patricia, we do so with gratitude for the time we were blessed to have with her. Her spirit will forever remain a guiding light in the lives of all who loved her.
