It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Patricia Valenzuela Banks, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend. Patricia departed this world peacefully in her sleep on June 4, 2026, after a courageous battle with dementia. She was 81.
Born on April 14, 1945, in Los Angeles, California, Patricia was a beacon of light and love throughout her life. She was the daughter of a vibrant city, embodying its spirit and warmth. She attended Jefferson High School, where her innate intelligence and grace shone brightly, leading her to a distinguished career as a legal secretary with Adams, Dookie, and Hazeltine law firm, and later at Morgan, Lewis and Bockius. Her colleagues often remarked on her unwavering dedication and the kindness she extended to everyone she encountered.
Patricia’s life was anchored by her deep and enduring love for her husband, Frederick Banks Sr. The two met as high school sweethearts and embarked on a beautiful journey together, celebrating 58 years of marriage. Their love story is one of steadfast devotion and mutual respect, a testament to the strength of their bond.
Her service in the United States Army for 19 years was a source of pride, demonstrating her commitment to her country and her community. Patricia was a woman of remarkable resilience and dedication, traits that were evident in all aspects of her life.
A pillar of her community, Patricia was an active member of St. Odilia Catholic Church for over 50 years. Her faith was a guiding light, and she shared her spirit of generosity and compassion with everyone she met. Known for her infectious smile and big heart, Patricia was always ready to lend a helping hand, embodying the true essence of kindness.
Patricia was passionate about many things, including her love for horse races and her unwavering support for the Lakers and Dodgers. Her enthusiasm for life’s simple joys was contagious, bringing happiness to those around her.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Frederick Banks Sr; her daughters, Terry Moore and Danielle Banks-Phillips; her son, Frederick Banks Jr; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
A service to celebrate Patricia’s life will be held on June 16, 2026, at 12:00 PM at St. Odilia Catholic Church, located at 1335 E 53rd St, Los Angeles, CA 90011. The family warmly invites all who knew her to join in honoring her remarkable life.
