Patricia Thompson

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Patricia Thompson, who left this world peacefully on August 22, 2026, after a courageous battle with illness. Born on May 23, 1952, in Richmond, VA, Patricia was a vibrant soul whose presence brought warmth and joy to all who knew her. Patricia affectionately known as Mrs. Pat/Mookie was a beloved daughter to Bernice Goins and Alfred Jones, Sr., both of whom preceded her in death, alongside her brother, Herman Goins, and her cherished husband, Duane Thompson, whom she married on July 7, 1983. Their union was a testament to love and companionship, lasting until Duane's passing. Patricia's legacy is lovingly carried forward by her children, Duane Simmons and Kevin Simmons (Roushawn), and her adored grandchildren, Brianna Simmons, Keionda Edmonds, Jaydin White-Simmons, and Kamrin White-Simmons. She is also survived by her sisters Roberta Singleton, Felicia Jones, and Alfreda Jones, as well as her sisters-in-law Denise Collins, Reverend Donna Jones (Aubrey), and Diane Collins (Melvin). Her brothers-in-law Mark Armstead and Edward Collins, Jr., along with many nieces, nephews, and devoted friends including Natisha Edmonds, Latanya Merriman, Demond Young, Janel Williford, Lucretia Jones, and Jessica Lee will continue to cherish her memory. A student of Richmond Public Schools, Patricia dedicated 31 years of her life to working at Phillip Morris, where her commitment and diligence were admired by colleagues and friends alike. She was a member of Broomfield Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, where her faith and generosity were cornerstones of her life. Patricia's interests were as diverse as they were passionate. She found delight in shopping, cooking, and gardening, always sharing her new finds. She found joy in the turn of a card, the world of a slot machine, and the quiet promise of a lottery ticket. Among the many little joys that brightened her day, none were sweeter than a Hershey's chocolate bar and a cold Pepsi. Above all, Patricia loved spending time with her family and friends, her nurturing nature and generous heart touching the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. A service to honor Patricia Thompson's life will be held on September 11, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the Walter G. Manning Funeral Home, located at 700 N. 25th Street, Richmond, VA 23223. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in honor of Patricia's giving spirit. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Medical College of Virginia Acute Care Oncology, Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute, and Virginia Cancer Institute for their exceptional care and support during Patricia's illness. Though Patricia will be deeply missed, her loving, caring spirit will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
