Patricia Patton
March 1, 1966 — March 16, 2026
It is with heavy hearts yet with profound gratitude for her life that we announce the passing of Patricia Patton, who departed this world peacefully at home on March 16, 2026, at the age of 60. Born on March 1, 1966, in the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois, Patricia was a beacon of light and joy to all who knew her.
Patricia was the cherished daughter of Melvin Patton Sr. and Florine Patton. She was predeceased by her loving father, Melvin Patton Sr., her brother, Melvin Patton Jr., and her sister, Lametta Patton, whom she now joins in everlasting peace.
Educated in Chicago, Patricia graduated from Simon High School in 1984, a testament to her dedication and perseverance. She devoted 20 years of her life to serving at Cook County Hospital, where her warm smile and compassionate nature left an indelible mark on both colleagues and patients alike. Her career was not merely a job but a calling—a place where her kindness and humor brought comfort and joy to those in need.
In 2015, Patricia sought new horizons and moved to Wilson, Carolina, where she continued to enrich the lives of everyone around her. A deeply faithful Christian, Patricia was a steadfast presence at church every Sunday, finding immense peace and solace in her faith and the beauty of nature. Her spiritual journey was one of profound love and compassion, qualities she effortlessly shared with the world.
Patricia's life was a tapestry woven with laughter and warmth. She was a passionate gardener, cultivating not only plants but also friendships that blossomed under her care. Her love for vintage coin collecting was a reflection of her appreciation for history and the stories that each coin carried. Above all, Patricia was known for her ability to bring laughter into any room and her big, radiant smile that could cheer everyone up, even on the darkest days.
Patricia leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion in her children, Erika Amos and Cyrus Patton, and her two beloved grandchildren, Timaya Birch and Lathan Amos, who were the pride and joy of her life. She is also survived by her siblings, Bryan Patton and Tamika Patton, and a host of nieces and nephews, including Bryana Patton, Lyric Patton, Bryan D Patton, Melvin Patton III, and Khalil Patton, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Though our hearts ache with her absence, we find comfort in the memories of her laughter, her compassion, and the love she bestowed upon her family and friends. Patricia Patton's life was a testament to the power of kindness, and her spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A celebration of Patricia's life will be held at a later date, where we will gather to honor her memory and the indelible mark she left on our hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Patricia's name, as a tribute to her generous and loving spirit.
May Patricia rest in peace, enveloped in the love she so freely gave, now and forevermore.
