Patricia "Pat" Simmons

February 4, 1943 — September 2, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patricia "Pat" Simmons, a beloved member of the West Point community, who peacefully departed this world on September 2, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on February 4, 1943, in the warm embrace of Chickasaw County, Pat was the cherished daughter of Tommie Caldwell and Mealy Lorette Dendy Criddle. Pat's life was a testament to love, devotion, and service. On May 25, 1961, she wed the love of her life, Jasper "Jap" Simmons, in a beautiful ceremony in West Point. Their union was a beacon of love and partnership, lasting until Jap's passing on May 17, 2017. Together, they built a family filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering support. For 27 years, Pat dedicated herself to caring for the children at the First United Methodist Daycare in West Point. Her nurturing spirit and gentle heart left an indelible mark on the lives of countless young ones, and her legacy of kindness continues to resonate in the community she cherished. Pat was a woman of deep faith and found joy in attending services at Christ United Methodist Church. Her spiritual journey was enriched by sharing Mass with Kim and Jennifer at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and worshipping alongside Michelle at Calvary Baptist Church. Her faith was a guiding light that illuminated her path and brought comfort to those around her. The heart of Pat's world was her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who reveled in every moment spent with her cherished grandchildren. Whether attending their events or simply sharing stories, her love was a constant source of encouragement and pride. In her leisure, Pat found solace in the pages of a good book and the melodies of old gospel hymns. Her love for reading transported her to new worlds, while the harmonious strains of gospel music lifted her soul and brought her peace. Patricia Simmons was more than just a family matriarch; she was a loving sister, aunt, and a dear friend to many. Her compassionate spirit, infectious smile, and unwavering support touched the lives of all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and faith that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of one's choice, in honor of Pat's generous and giving nature. Pat's memory will forever be cherished, and her spirit will continue to inspire us all. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved Jap, and may her legacy of love guide us always.
